Unfortunately, while the structure was being built, Doumer had to come back to France and became the President of France later. It was not until 1916 that it was officially used for holiday resting of some Indochina-French Governors.

You can see the statue of Christ the King, one of the important symbols of Vung Tau, from all directions in the city. Then, climb the observatory in the statue and watch the panorama of the city and the surrounding sea The statue of Christ the King was built in the early 1970 s but not until more than 20 years after its completion. The arms are 18 m wide, 32 m high, two meters higher than the Redemptories statue in Rio de Janeiro. It is, to be honest, a long trek (01 hr. (847 steps) but there are some stops for trekkers to take a break, drink water and take some photos as a memory of the sea and surrounding areas below. Besides, the path along the route is decorated by many trees and flowers, especially plumier flowers, spreading its fragrance around the location. When at the destination. if wish, you can take 130 steps up to the neck, shoulders and wrists in which four or five people can stand and enjoy the paranormal view of Vung Tau.
