3. Sapa Transportation: How to Get to & Around Sapa

Sapa is most easily accessed from Hanoi, and you have three primary transportation choices: by train, bus, or private car.

• Train: This option is safer and more comfortable, with a journey duration of approximately 8 hours. Trains depart from Hanoi in the evening and arrive at Lao Cai station the following morning. From there, it's a one-hour bus ride to Sapa.
• Bus: While more budget-friendly and faster, bus travel may be less comfortable, taking about 6 hours to reach Sapa directly from Hanoi. You won't need to make a transfer in Lao Cai.
• Private Car: This flexible option also takes around 6 hours to reach Sapa.
